R2R Technology
Even the best available PTA Technology from KTS cannot eliminate the by-products generated in the paraxylene oxidation process. While these by-products must be purged from the process and are either burnt as waste or bio-degraded in the waste water treatment unit, they contain Benzoic Acid which could be a valuable co-product. R²R Technology from KTS is designed to recover up to 97 percent of the oxidation catalyst metals and 90 percent of Benzoic Acid (with purity close to 99%) from the PTA plant residues stream, significantly reducing the fresh oxidation catalyst make-up and the organics load in the liquid effluent from the PTA Plant, whilst producing Benzoic Acid as a co-product. This comprehensive process can be retrofitted to existing PTA plants of any technology.
